Bill Deiz has lived several lives. One of the first Black reporters to break through in major local news in Portland in the late 60s, he also found success as a musician (who was in a band discovered at Portland’s famed Cotton Club) and actor. As a journalist, he covered some of the biggest stories of his time, including the kidnapping of Patty Hearst, Nixon resignation and Mount St. Helens eruption. I had the pleasure of speaking with Bill for the Blacktastic Adventure. Check it out below and to support the project, subscribe to my YouTube channel and become a Patreon member.
